Milan Skriniar insists he had no doubts over Inter Milan move

Slovakian footballer Milan Skriniar has said that he had no second thoughts in joining Inter Milan when they made the approach to sign him three years ago. The centre-back was pursued by the Nerazzurri from Sampdoria in the summer of 2017 and he has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most-sought defenders in European football.

His consistent performances have caught the eye of Barcelona and Manchester United over the past few seasons but Skriniar is clearly satisfied with the proceedings at San Siro, he told: “As soon as I heard rumours during the U21 European Championship I was flattered. Accepting Inter was an easy choice and I didn’t have to think twice about it.

Andreas Brehme says Inter Milan face must-win game against Sampdoria

Former Inter Milan star Andreas Brehme has said that Inter Milan are playing well at the moment and they need to build a winning run in order to keep up in the title pursuit. The Nerazzurri have gone neck-to-neck with Juventus for the league title this campaign but they have recently dropped to the third position after an away defeat at Lazio.

Still, they are only three points behind the Bianconeri at the top of the standings and club favourite Brehme believes the Nerazzurri must pick up three points from the Sampdoria game to stay in touch in the title race, he told: “Inter are playing well. They drew 1-1 at home against Atalanta, who are a great team. Let’s say that two points were lost against Cagliari when they drew and it is a pity how the match at the Olimpico against Lazio went but the title race is not over, Inter have played very well. Inter need three points if they want to win the Scudetto. It will be a great match. Inter will definitely win.”

Domestic Form Could Inspire Success in Europe, says Conte

Antonio Conte says that it will only be a short while before Inter start making an impact in the Champions League. He says that the sustained improvement in domestic form gives him a lot of confidence about getting back to success in Europe. Inter Milan have underachieved in European competitions ever since winning the treble – Champions League, Italian Serie A, and Coppa Italia – in 2010. Antonio Conte is the man tasked with getting Inter back to the heydays in Europe. Even though the club have not been able to get to the top of the table in the domestic games, they have been able to put up a remarkable fight for Juventus.

A few years ago, Inter would be more than 10 points behind Juventus in the league table but they are now just one point behind Maurizio Sarri’s men. There is a real opportunity for Conte to break Juventus’ run of nine consecutive league titles – to which he has also contributed in the past. Ironically, this domestic form seems to be helping Inter in Europe, according to the manager. It would be common to witness teams that excel in Europe struggle in domestic games and vice versa. Only a few months ago, Conte was complaining about the lack of strength in the team but he seems to have overcome negative elements in the squad.

Conte Praises Strikers after Win over Slavia Prague

Antonio Conte praised his strikers after they were able to get Inter Milan to a 3-1 win over Slavia Prague in the Champions League. This was a decisive game for the Italian outfit, who were trailing Borussia Dortmund in the group stages going into the last two matches. If not for this victory, Inter would be stuck in the third place and potentially heading to a Europa League spot in the knockout stages.

Now, Inter have given themselves a huge chance of reaching the Champions League last 16 even if the team needs to overcome Barcelona in the last game.
Lautaro Martinez was able to come up with two goals while Romelu Lukaku added a third for the Italian team. The former opened the scoring after just 19 minutes when he was assisted by the Belgian.

Martinez believes Inter should take Juve defeat in positive sense

Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez has said that Inter Milan should carry the positives from the recent defeat to Juventus in the Serie A. The Nerazzurri had the chance to gain a five-point advantage over the Bianconeri at the top of the table but that was not the case as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in their homeground.

Owing to that result, the Nerazzurri have dropped a point behind the reigning champions on the table but Martinez is not overly concerned by the situation. Speaking on international duty, Martinez said that the Nerazzurri need to work harder to match the level of the Bianconeri and they should consider the recent defeat as a stimulus to improve.

Croatian winger Ivan Perisic has said that he could not turn down a move to Bayern Munich after the offer came by. Former Inter Milan striker suggests club don’t have Romelu Lukaku backup plan

Former Inter Milan striker Sergio Gori believes the Nerazzurri have to backup plan, should they fail to pursue the signature of Romelu Lukaku this summer. The Manchester United striker has been earmarked as the top target for the Nerazzurri in the transfer window but they have not found the breakthrough over a transfer agreement with the Red Devils reluctant to reduce on their £80m price tag.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Gori said that the San Siro giants are going into the new season without much planning, considering they have placed the entire focus on landing Lukaku from the Red Devils. Mauro Icardi has already been deemed surplus to requirements under new boss Antonio Conte and Gori is concerned with the club heading into another campaign with just one senior striker in Lautaro Martinez in the ranks.

Inter Milan confirm the signing of Nicolo Barella from Cagliari Calcio

Inter Milan have confirmed the signing of midfielder Nicola Barella from Cagliari Calcio. The Italy international has joined the Nerazzurri on an initial year-long loan but the club have agreed on an obligatory buy option at the end of the season. A statement on Inter’s website read: “Nicolò Barella is officially an Inter player. The Italian midfielder has joined the Club from Cagliari Calcio on an initial year-long loan deal, with there being an obligation to buy at the end of that period. Barella has put pen to paper on a five-year contract. He’s determined and ambitious, and now he’s beginning a new adventure with Inter. The whole of the Nerazzurri family wishes him the best of luck.”

Barella was initially touted to part ways with Cagliari during the 2019 winter transfer window whereby he had attracted interest from Premier League duo Chelsea and Arsenal. However, neither of those teams were prepared to meet the midfielder’s £45m valuation and that has eventually paved the way for the Nerazzurri to agree on the package during the current transfer window.
