Former Inter Milan striker suggests club don’t have Romelu Lukaku backup plan

Former Inter Milan striker Sergio Gori believes the Nerazzurri have to backup plan, should they fail to pursue the signature of Romelu Lukaku this summer. The Manchester United striker has been earmarked as the top target for the Nerazzurri in the transfer window but they have not found the breakthrough over a transfer agreement with the Red Devils reluctant to reduce on their £80m price tag.

Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Gori said that the San Siro giants are going into the new season without much planning, considering they have placed the entire focus on landing Lukaku from the Red Devils. Mauro Icardi has already been deemed surplus to requirements under new boss Antonio Conte and Gori is concerned with the club heading into another campaign with just one senior striker in Lautaro Martinez in the ranks.
