Former Inter Milan striker suggests club don’t have Romelu Lukaku backup plan

Former Inter Milan striker Sergio Gori believes the Nerazzurri have to backup plan, should they fail to pursue the signature of Romelu Lukaku this summer. Speaking to Tutto Mercato Web, Gori said that the San Siro giants are going into the new season without much planning, considering they have placed the entire focus on landing Lukaku from the Red Devils. Brazilian winger David Neres has said that he has no idea regarding the transfer speculation linking him with a move to Inter Milan. The young attacker had a stunning season with Ajax where he contributed 12 goals and 15 assists, while helping the Amsterdam side celebrate their first domestic double since 2001.

As such, he has been widely touted to pursue a bigger challenge elsewhere with Liverpool, Arsenal and Inter among the high-profile clubs linked. When asked about the potential interest from Nerazzurri, the 22-year-old remained relatively unperturbed and stated that his sole focus remains on the Copa America for the moment, he said: “I do not know anything, really. At the moment I am concentrating only on the Copa America, then I will think about my future.”
