The Chinese owners of Inter Milan want to compete in the Champions League

Inter Milan has not competed in the Champions League since 2012 but the new owners of the Italian club are hoping that this changes soon as representatives of the Suning Holdings Group have recently outlined some of their goals after having taken over Inter Milan which has lately been struggling trying to win any significant piece of silverware.

The Sporting Director of Inter Milan, Piero Ausilio recently revealed that the Chinese owners are serious about pushing Inter Milan not only to the top of the Italian League Serie A but also compete in the prestigious and extremely difficult to win Champions League.

Inter Milan’s Piero Ausilio said: “You can see in their mentality and their potential as a group, how strong they are. They are serious in China and have been ambitious with all they have done in their working life. They want success in football;they have a team in China already and have now acquired a historic brand here with Inter’’

“They want Inter to win Serie A again and get into the top 10 in Europe. We know it takes time and you need everybody pulling in the same direction on a clear project, managed well, and playing regular Champions League football will allow us to close the gap on the rest.”

Whether or not Inter Milan is able to snatch a top spot in the Serie A and qualify for the Champions League of the next season is something that remains to be seen and only time will tell but the pressure is starting to be felt for the Italian club to roll back the years and start lifting major titles which they have not been able to do in over 6 years.
