The Inter Milan manager would be delighted with the news that two of his defenders are fit to return to the squad for the visit of Cagliari on Sunday night. Dutchman Stefan de Vrij and Aleksander Kolarov are fit to return to bolster his defensive options ahead of the Cagliari, while he has concerns over other defenders such as Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian. Dumfries and Darmian are the two major options for the Inter manager on the right side of his five-man defence.

Italian national team fullback Darmian is presently out injured, while Dumfries had to leave the final Champions League Group D clash with Real Madrid at the half-time interval due to injury. Dutch national team star Dumfries was a major injury casualty from the Real Madrid game which ended in a 2-0 defeat for the Nerazzuri.

Inter Milan finished the Real Madrid game with ten men after Nicolo Barella was sent off. Real Madrid sealed top spot in their group thanks to the goals from the likes of Spanish attacker Marco Asensio and retired German international Toni Kroos.

In the absence of both Darmian and Dumfries, Danilo D’Ambrosio is the obvious option to play right wingback for Inter Milan against Cagliari.

Italian international defender Andrea Ranocchia will also miss the Cagliari alongside Argentine striker Joaquin Correa. While Ranocchia is expected to return to full fitness before the month runs out, Correa won’t return to action until the Bologna game next month.
